Chris Raymond serves as the chief sustainability officer of The Boeing Company, holding the position of senior vice president of Global Enterprise Sustainability and a member of the company’s Executive Council. In his role as Boeing’s chief sustainability officer, Raymond plays a crucial role in advancing the company’s approach to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities. He takes charge of stakeholder-oriented engagement, reporting, and overall company performance. Raymond's responsibilities within the Executive Council include driving shared awareness of ESG trends, identifying opportunities, setting targets, and providing guidance for company decision-making to ensure a global impact.
Raymond previously held the position of Vice President of Sustainability, Strategy, and Corporate Development (SSCD) at The Boeing Company. In this role, he led a team responsible for shaping the company's future by leveraging market insights, developing strategies, fostering partnerships, and making investments in sustainable innovation, productivity, and growth.
Furthermore, Raymond was tasked with overseeing company-wide initiatives aimed at engaging stakeholders, providing information, and gathering feedback in the aftermath of the tragic accidents involving the 737 MAX. Collaborating closely with the Communications team and leaders from various departments, he prioritized the needs and concerns of employees, customers, passengers, suppliers, and valued partners, ensuring their voices and interests were effectively represented in all company endeavors.
Raymond previously held the position of Vice President at Embraer Integration, where he spearheaded efforts for a potential strategic partnership between Boeing and the Brazilian aerospace company, Embraer. Prior to that, Raymond served as the inaugural Vice President and General Manager of Autonomous Systems (AS), a division within Boeing Defense, Space & Security that focused on enterprise autonomous aviation and marine technologies, intelligence capabilities, and networking solutions spanning from seabed to space.
Raymond's extensive experience also includes roles as Vice President and General Manager of various businesses in integrated missile defense, sensors and signals intelligence, and undersea capability. Additionally, he served as Vice President of Global Business Development & Strategy for Defense, Space and security, where he led a global team dedicated to customer solutions, partnerships, new business capture, and strategic planning.
Raymond's career at Boeing began as an engineer at the company's Long Beach, California operation. Throughout his tenure, he has held leadership positions in engineering, supply chain management, strategy, sales, program management, operations, and communications.
Raymond is highly regarded in his field and holds the distinction of being an Associate Fellow in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, as well as a Fellow in the Royal Aeronautical Society. He actively participates in the Clean Skies for Tomorrow Coalition and is a distinguished member of the World 50. Raymond also serves as an advisory board member for The Heritage Group, Dell Technologies, the MIT Climate and Sustainability Consortium, and the University of Illinois Aerospace Engineering Alumni Board. Furthermore, he is a strong advocate for the International Aviation Women's Association.
Raymond's educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois, as well as a Contract Management Certificate and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine.
